TELECOMMUNICATION AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY ACT

The Telecommunication and Information Technology Act, within the framework of Saudi Arabia’s Corporate Laws & legislation, provides a comprehensive legal framework for regulating the telecommunications and IT sectors. It aims to foster innovation, protect consumer rights, ensure fair competition, and promote the development of digital infrastructure and services in line with the country’s Vision 2030.

ISSUER OF THE TELECOMMUNICATION AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY ACT

The Telecommunication and Information Technology Act is issued by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) of Saudi Arabia. The MCIT is responsible for the overall regulation and development of the telecommunications and IT sectors within the Kingdom.

 

WHO IS SUBJECT TO THE TELECOMMUNICATION AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY ACT?

The Act applies to:

  • All telecommunications and IT service providers operating within Saudi Arabia.
  • Entities involved in the installation, operation, and maintenance of telecommunications networks and infrastructure.
  • Consumers and end-users of telecommunications and IT services within the Kingdom.
  • Any organization or individual engaged in activities regulated by the Act, including data processing and transmission services.
